Car rental terms and conditions

These terms and conditions, alongside the privacy policy, data protection and our insurance policy reflect an agreement with you – the client – for the services we offer you as a car rental facility. These terms are applicable to all our contracts for services provided and override any other terms and conditions. They are applicable for any reservations that you as a client make through us or through our website, so you should be familiar with them.
By making a reservation through our website, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the relevant terms and conditions. If there is any part of these that you as the client, do not comprehend or if you have any further questions concerning the rental or any other product/service, please contact us by tel. +698 7243047 or through email [email protected].

If you wish to rent a vehicle from the website for the price indicated at that given time, your request will be accepted within 48hrs of its submission to us. We will reply via email and send you an e-receipt when your reservation is confirmed. Alternatively, you may submit your details via e-mail and we can contact you via your chosen  means (e-mail, telephone, viber, what’s app, messenger).

GENERAL TERMS

The authorised driver must possess a valid driving license (insurance covers licenses that have been issued for more than 3yrs). Sterling Rentals will not be held accountable for those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, deliberate damage/misuse, or driving off-road without appropriate care and attention. In the event of an accident, you must contact the police and Sterling Rentals. The driver is not permitted to transport more passengers than the vehicle permit allows. You, the client, will take full responsibility for any issues pertaining to the above. 

What is included in the price?

Prices include unlimited mileage (on the island of Crete), 3rd party liability insurance, local and airport taxes, free drop off and pick up, helmets and a map. 

What is not included in the price?

Petrol (return the vehicle with the same amount as was delivered to you), additional charges for returns/pick-ups that have not previously been confirmed with the company, fines, road safety violations when the driver is responsible and additional charges for young drivers – when applicable.

INSURANCE

ΒASIC PACKAGE FOR FULL COVERAGE

Partial liability for damages: the client is liable to cover any costs for the damage incurred. The waiver depends on the vehicle category:

– For small cars, the waiver is from €500 to €750.
– For medium cars, the waiver is from €800 to €1000. 
– For SUV minivans and convertibles, the waiver is from €800 to €1500.
– If you choose this insurance cover, you must have a valid credit card in your name. The waiver amount is held and then returned to you approx. 15 days after the vehicle has been returned undamaged. 
– Personal accident insurance: this covers the driver and passengers in the event of an accident.
– 3rd party insurance: in the event of an accident, there is a €1.220.000 cover.
– Theft insurance: the client is insured in the event that the vehicle is stolen unless this happens due to the client’s neglect/carelessness. Stolen items from within the vehicle are not covered by any insurance.
– Fire insurance: this covers the vehicle in the event of a fire. 
– 24hour roadside assistance
– Insurance cover for uninsured: this covers any damages caused by someone that has no insurance. 

COMPLETE INSURANCE PACKAGE

– No liability for damages: the client is not obliged to cover any expenses for damages in the event of an accident. No amount is held from the client’s credit card. The insurance covers all parts of the car, including the tires and windows. 
– Personal accident insurance: this covers the driver and passengers in the event of an accident.
– 3rd party insurance: in the event of an accident, there is a €1.220.000 cover.
– Theft insurance: the client is insured in the event that the vehicle is stolen unless this happens due to the client’s neglect/carelessness. Stolen items from within the vehicle are not covered by any insurance.
– Fire insurance: this covers the vehicle in the event of a fire.
– 24hour roadside assistance
– Insurance cover for uninsured: this covers any damages caused by someone that has no insurance.

DEPOSITS AND RESERVATIONS

To complete a reservation, the client must deposit 50% of the total price in advance and the remaining amount should be paid in cash upon arrival.
The client may also choose to pay during the vehicle pick-up process when the full amount should be paid by cash or credit card. 

Payment options during pick-up:
– Debit or credit cards (we have a POS machine)
– Cash

A day’s rental is considered from 09:00am until 08:00pm (09.00-20.00).

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations made 48hours or less prior to the rental date, incur that the deposit is non-refundable. In the event that the booking is canceled due to Covid-19, with supporting documents submitted, the deposit is refunded up to 2 weeks prior to the rental date.

Driver’s License

Drivers must have held a valid license for at least one (1) year. National Driving Licenses issued in EU, US, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Israel, Russia and Ukraine are accepted. An International Driving License is required in all other countries.

Traffic Violations

Traffic fines and Administrative Sanctions Tickets and appended administrative sanctions resulting from any violation of Greek Traffic laws during the rental period is solely the renter’s responsibility. If any such administrative sanction is not disclosed to the company at the end of the rental period (contract), the violation will be charged to the renter.

Mileage

Unlimited mileage is included in our rates. TaxesV.A.T (Value Added Tax) 24% is included in our rates.

How many drivers can drive the rented car?

Our prices and offers include one person as main driver. One additional driver is also included. There is an option to add other people as a third driver. This option is not charged extra.

Car Selection

Selection of particular car brand or model Bookings are subject to a specific car group, which usually includes several different car models with similar features. You can ask for a specific model after your booking is confirmed. We will add your model preference to your booking and we will deliver the requested model if it is available the day of your arrival. Please note that you must be prepared to collect any of the advertised vehicles within a category. In case you have a confirmed reservation for a specific car group and there is not any available car from this category, we reserve the right to deliver a vehicle of bigger category with no extra charge.

Car Replacement

In case of the unfortunate event of an accident/breakdown resulting in the immobilisation of the vehicle, your car will be replaced with another one within 24 hours from the time the accident/breakdown has been reported. Our company has the right to investigate the causes of the accident/breakdown and deny the replacement of the car if the use of the car was against terms & conditions.

Flight delays

No additional charges on flight delays Our employees are always informed for your arrival time, including last minute flight schedule changes that may occur. They will wait for your arrival in order to deliver you the booked vehicle.

Key Loss

In case of loss or damage of the keys, you will have to pay 100€- 200€ for their replacement, depending on their type.

Other Information in Insurance

Not covered by any insurance collision damage caused by alcohol or drug or abuse, as well as traffic violations.

What if I break down? What do I do?

In case of a breakdown or an accident you should contact the emergency number: +30 6987243047 or +30 2897031394 (all contact information will be provided the first day of the rental). You should explain the problem to our representative as clearly as possible. Help will be sent to your location as soon as possible. You should remain close to your vehicle until assistance arrives. If there is a problem that cannot be fixed on spot, a replacement vehicle will be provided.
